Moscow’s utilization of electronic warfware (EW) in Ukraine and other countries, combined with the use of cutting edge Russian air defences – possible one of the best on the planet – has returned jamming in the interest point for the US Navy and its armada of EA-18G Growlers.The Raytheon Company, manufacturer of the low-cost flight vehicle, spent the last two years upgrading the jammer version of the platform, known as MALD-J, to include electronic warfare capabilities, as part of the $34.8 million MALD-X demonstration effort

The drone was likely targeted with a cell phone signal jammer, which simply consists of a device equipped with a radio transmitter that can output multi-band frequencies. The drone's receivers are then saturated, and it can no longer interpret instructions from the person flying it. The UAV fell into the sea, and according to Fstoppers, the city of Toulon has opened an investigation into the matter and has divers searching for the wreckage to further study it.
